Why a Vote for my husband, John Roth, is a vote for the future for Northern Michigan Families.

John is...

Servant-Leader

John is a family and community centered man. Whether it be a local fundraiser, meeting, or community celebration — John will be right there in the middle— volunteering. He is a living example of what it looks like to genuinely, and cheerfully, attend to family, customers, neighbors, or anyone in need. On a daily basis, you can often hear him say, “how can I help you sir?” or “What can I do for you today, Ma’am?”

Invested in Others

When someone is invested in others, they remember names, family member names and life events.  John is invested in others. He will remember your name, your family members, your stories and life events and he will ask you specific questions about those important people and events. He is even likely to offer you a true story or humorous event to lighten your day.

He truly cares about the well-being of families in Northern Michigan and fought to bring $2.5M to the area for a behavioral health intake center. As a nurse, I’m proud that my husband stood up for what is right and fought to get $56 million so that nurses can advance their education in our communities, instead of having to pick up and go downstate.

Stands on his Promises and Commitments to Northern Michigan

John respects his commitments and stands by his words. He listens and advocates for his constituents and his family. John has helped hundreds of residents with unemployment issues and thousands with everything from tax issues DHHS guardianship to senior issues. A majority of the house bills that John has sponsored and/or voted for came from calls to his office. You will not find a more diligent man, who is involved in and tends to his community. He listens to his constituents.

He works tirelessly to stay grounded and keep the pulse on the community through managing our local business and working at a local ski shop during the holidays. He loves it and that it allows him to meet and talk with people in person on a daily basis.

I admire John’s ability to bring people together by offering a conscientious listening ear, allowing all voices to be heard.  His wonderful sense (and use) of humor to ease stressful situations. John always brings levity and consumer centered approach to any challenge.

John Understands Lansing

For as long as I have known John, he has followed local and state legislation and issues. He is very familiar with where we have been legislatively and economically as a county. I admire his ability to recall names, places, details that span years and how this has added to his experience and how this has helped our district in Lansing.  I am incredibly proud of how John uses this to help constituents or offer guidance for resolution on issues.  He has proven his commitment to the district and has solid ideas on where we need to go.

Incredible Husband and Family Man

John and I have been married 35 years. For much of our marriage, he has worked three jobs and, later in our marriage served on the GT County Parks and Recreation Board and as chair of the local county party. I am proud of the stewardship and understanding of the challenges that he showed both for the budget and for the needs of the local environment and recreation.

As parents of two girls, I am grateful for the empathy, compassion, honesty, and playfulness that John shows them.  The girls have seen that their dad is dependable, involved, and industrious. Wherever we went they went, whether it be to a fundraiser to help volunteer or to work at the ski shop on weekends.

If you were to ask me what type of State Representative that we need for this district, I would say -

  • We need some who is level-headed, hard-working, even-tempered, compassionate, and people focused.
  • We need someone who is strong, provides sound advice, never complains, is easy-going but diligent.

We HAVE someone who is all of those things.

Re-elect my husband, John Roth.
